jonsnowhite:

The Marauder’s Map is lasting testimony to the advanced magical ability of the four friends who included Harry Potter’s father, godfather and favourite teacher. The map they created during their time at Hogwarts appears to be a blank piece of parchment unless activated by the phrase: I solemnly swear that I am up to no good, a phrase that, in the case of three of the four makers, should be understood as a joke. The ‘no good’ of which they wrote never denoted Dark magic, but school rule-breaking; similar bravado is evinced by their use of their own nicknames on the map (‘Messrs Moony, Wormtail, Padfoot and Prongs’).

The magic used in the map’s creation is advanced and impressive; it includes the Homonculous Charm, enabling the possessor of the map to track the movements of every person in the castle, and it was also enchanted to forever repel (as insultingly as possible) the curiosity of their nemesis, Severus Snape.

  • Doug: What did we talk about?
  • Kayleen: God, I don't know...we talked about everything. We talked so long, it was the latest I'd ever stayed up in my life. It was almost morning when we left the swings. It was cold, and you gave me your jacket to wear. The playground was so
  • pretty just then. The sky was starting to be blue.

cancerously:

Chris Pratt worked with Marvel and Children’s Miracle Network Hospital to arrange a special screening of Guardians of the Galaxy for patients, families and staff at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles Wednesday. While the movie played, Pratt snuck out and dressed up as his character, Star-Lord. He spent more than three hours in full costume and handed out movie-themed toys. Pratt also visited patients in the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit, the Children’s Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases, and the Pediatric ICU, as they were too sick to join the movie screening that afternoon.

Pratt spent extra time with one patient, Dylan Prunty, who is a longtime Lego fan and recognized the actor’s voice from The Lego Movie. They spent about 10 minutes reciting different scenes from the film.

I was reading another article about this, and the whole thing gets better:

"The best part about this charming act of charity is that Pratt did it true to Star-Lord’s M.O., mixing something good with something bad. "A bit of both," if you will. See, the reason Pratt was able to swagger into the Children’s Hospital in full Star-Lord regalia was pretty outlaw. He stole it.

If you go to the link you can watch an interview in which he admits to stealing it. In his defense, he says it was “so that he could bring this movie hero into the lives of kids in need of a role model.”

How great is Chris Pratt tho.
